South Croydon Tennis Club offers competitive and social tennis for both adults and juniors within a fun and friendly setting. With an active membership and several club sessions per week, you won’t be short of opportunities to play and to enjoy the social side of the club.
We have five all weather courts, three of which have floodlights and were re-surfaced in August 2016.
There are six club sessions per week:
- Tuesday and Friday mornings (10:00 - 14:00)
- Tuesday and Thursday evenings (18:00 - 22:00)
- Saturday afternoons (14:00 - 17:00)
- Sunday mornings (10:00 - 13:00)
Balls are provided free of charge at club sessions.
Teams and tournaments
We field six men’s teams, two ladies’ teams and three mixed teams in the Surrey league. There are also opportunities to enter the Surrey knockout league and other county and local tournaments.
The annual club tournament features men's and women's singles, doubles, mixed doubles and junior singles. This runs from the end of April with the finals day taking place in July.
The annual club handicap tournament starts in August with the finals day held in October. The entry categories include open singles, open doubles and mixed doubles.
Our internal singles league operates throughout the year, with promotion and relegation on a three monthly cycle.
We also run one-day fun events during the year, often raising funds for local charitable causes.
Mark Love and Andy Ross from MDL Coaching head up the coaching programme at the club. Both are LTA level 4 tennis coaches and have built up the programme at the club over a number of years.
MDL Coaching runs a full programme of coaching for juniors on Saturday mornings. In addition, the most advanced players are able to join the MDL Academy Programme that is based at South Croydon Tennis Club on Friday afternoon/evening. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the school holidays the club hosts LTA grade 5 and 6 competitions as well as mini and fun tennis camps every afternoon from 13:30–16:30. For more information contact email@example.com.
Adults are invited to book a coach for an hour’s coaching session at the club and lessons can be made up of up to four players.

Prospective members are invited to come along to one of the club sessions to be introduced to members. You may come to three sessions before deciding whether to join.
As a senior or "full" junior member, you can attend club sessions, subject to being ‘played in’ by a committee member or team captain. You can also book courts free of charge outside of club sessions. The club has an online booking system enabling the easy booking of courts. Floodlights cost £6 per hour.
